CanESS relies on demographics information to determine the rate and extent of resource production and energy use. The demographic profile affects everything from amount of food required, GDP, emissions produced by transportation, and much more. In particular it contains a calculator which populates a variable called //Canada total population// (number of people organized by region and time) which is used in the [[CanESS:macroEconomy|Macro Economy]] node, [[CanESS:foodProd|Food Production]], and multiple calculators in [[CanESS:energyUse|Energy Use]].
