Importing Multi-dimensional Data from Beyond 20/20 Format (.ivt) into TOOL

Moving multi-dimensional data sets between platforms is notoriously tedious. This article describes a “best practice” process for importing multi-dimensional data in the Beyond 20/20 format (commonly used by Statistics Canada) into the TOOL environment.

  • Identify your source .ivt file and establish the shape of your target TOOL object
  • In the Beyond 20/20 viewer, arrange the dimensions of your source such that … [insert screenshots].
  • Save as .csv

Working Notes

We might consider making the TOOL data file an open specification, as ESRI has done with Shapefiles?
